What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is the process of optimizing your website to increase the amount of traffic coming to your site from search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo. SEO is done through a series of ‘best practices’ and must be maintained continually as the search engines change the way they rank websites.

SEO Process

All SEO projects are customized to suit your business and budget. All of the following are not necessary for every business.

  • SEO Questionnaire: The first step to our process is getting educated about your company and business goals to understand your target audience and geographic area(s).
  • Initial SEO Review: Next, we will review your website analytics (if available) to gain insight into your website traffic and marketing effectiveness. Using our SEO checklist, we will determine the specific SEO needs of your company’s website. At this time, we will generate an SEO report for you to review that will include our recommendations.
  • Competitor and Keyword Research: We will do keyword research to determine what terms related to your business are searched most often by potential customers and review your top competitors for these keywords. We learn what strategies, content, and PPC (pay per click) key terms are working well for them and use our data to refine and prioritize our keyword list.
  • Content Creation and Revision: In this phase, we will evaluate the effectiveness of your current website content (keyword density, contextual linking, anchor text, etc). We will then use the data we collected through the questionnaire and the competitor/keyword research phase to freshen up your existing content and maximize its effectiveness.
  • Maximize Search Engine Visibility: We will develop and refine the page titles and create meta keyword and meta description tags for your website. We will use the data we gathered from our initial review and SEO best practices to make changes to your site that will help search engines find your pages and determine what data/keywords are most important and help increase usability for customers. We will also make your site easy for search engines to crawl and submit it to the major search engines.
  • Social Networking Set Up and Training: We will set your business up with accounts on social networks that have public/searchable profiles and that relate to or can help your business. On the social networking websites that you currently signed up for, we will refine your profiles and content. We will train you on how to use the most popular social networks to increase website traffic and customers.
  • Link Building: We will submit your business to relevant directories and modify your current listings to freshen them up and maximize their effectiveness.
  • Local Search Sync/Additions: We will be adding your site to Google Maps, Yahoo Local, Bing Local, and about 80 other local search engines. It is important that your business is represented on all of the search engines as well as that the information is consistent among them.
  • Landing Pages and Online Advertising Proposal: We design PPC (pay per click) landing pages around the top key terms defined in our keyword research. These pages will be complete with a form for user input. We will work with you to define a budget and set advertising campaigns around the landing pages we have designed and built.
  • Monitoring: SEO takes time, monitoring, and refinement. In this stage, we continue to monitor your website and ranking positions with reports we will send to you.
